DIY: Pom Pom Tote Bag (No Sewing Required)

Thrift store finds have a way of sparking the best ideas, and spotting a basic straw tote on a recent browse was all the inspiration needed. A handful of colorful pom pom pins later and that forgettable little bag became something worth reaching for every single day.

Supplies

  • A tote bag — straw is a great choice, though canvas or fabric works just as well
  • Pom pom pins — never made one before? This tutorial covers everything you need to know

How It Works

Pin the pom poms directly onto the bag in whatever arrangement catches your eye. No needle and thread, no hot glue, no permanent decisions required.

Keeping things pin-based opens up a lot of possibilities:

  • Move things around on a whim without any damage to the bag
  • Pull certain colors and swap in others depending on what you are wearing
  • Take the poms off completely and let the bag speak for itself

It is the kind of project that fits perfectly into a busy schedule since the whole thing comes together in minutes and can be changed just as quickly. Pack up your belongings and head out with a bag that looks like it took considerably more effort than it actually did.

Hope the warmer weather is treating everyone well! Time has been split between digging around in the garden and hitting the hiking trails with the pups. There is truly nothing better than this time of year.
