Previously, the DIY Painted Storage Box Tutorial went up, inspired by a gorgeous project over at Centsational Girl. As promised, here is the second version: a bold, vibrant neon take on the same technique. The inspiration for this colorful spin came from a pin spotted on Pinterest that was simply too good to pass up.
What You Will Need
- Wooden jewelry box (available in the craft store)
- Craft paint in bright, bold colors
- Painter’s tape
How to Make It
Step 1: Tape Off the Edges
Run painter’s tape along the edges of the box to create clean, crisp lines. No base coat is needed for this version. Skipping that step is actually intentional since letting the natural wood show through is a big part of what makes the finished look so striking.
Step 2: Paint the Edges
Choose whatever colors speak to you and paint the taped-off edges. Neon shades were the choice here because they create such a bold contrast against the warm, neutral wood tone. The result is something that could genuinely be described as electric and unexpected. Not exactly the usual words that come to mind when thinking about storage boxes, but these neon versions absolutely earn those descriptions.
